Vista 64 bit Wireless cards not working.

Right I had a Belkin F5D7000 version 7000uk working on a Belkin Pre-N MIMO router F5D8630-4 under Vista Ultimate 64 bit. Then I tried to install a RAID array and had to reinstall Vista due to BSoD on booting with RAID activated on the MB. Vista is fully updated.

Now I can't get onto the router using the wireless. I can plug in a cable and get onto the router and internet. I went out and bought a ZyXEL G-320 v3 and that doesn't work either. The problem is that neither card automatically obtains a correct IP address to join the network. Instead of get a 192.168.2.x address it gets a default 169.x.x.x one. Setting the IP address on the card manually doesn't work either. I even tried a fix from microsoft that involved editing the registry. Along with loads of different drivers for the cards (and I sick of removing and reinstalling the card every couple of minutes). I can't even access the router over wireless despite the card saying it is connected locally. The wireless is working fine for my brother on XP.

Anyone have any ideas of how I can fix the problem? I'm considering getting Windows 7 to see if it sorts the problems, or even a new router.

Re: Vista 64 bit Wireless cards not working.

Okay I've tried everything I can think of now (short of installing XP which seems to have no problems with wireless on this network). The router must be having problems with Vista and Windows 7 wireless settings, not that surprising as I've had it 4 years now and I doubt the model was that new when I bought it.

I guess I'm going to have to buy a new router, and maybe get some new matched network cards depending on the cost. So does anyone have any good recommendations for a Router/ASDL modem combo that will work with BT Broadband and allow XP, Vista and W7 users to connect. N compliant would be nice, the computers are only 6-7m from the router but the walls are thick and competely solid (no cavity).

I was thinking Linksys WAG-320N seems a nice price and cashback. Maybe matched up with Linksys Wireless-N Dual-Band PCI Adapters. I know Draytek are good but a bit pricey for a home network mainly used for movies and gaming, but I willing to stretch to one if they are much better.
