Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition on a LAN

Duke Nuking in 3D on a LAN

whilst digging around in an old box containing my old pc games i forgot i had (doom, FIFA 96 etc.) i found possibly THE greatest FPS of all time, yes Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition.
its by no means the longest game in the world or the most user friendly game in the world but after a whole day and a bit of solid enjoyment i completed the all four episodes craving to share the experience with my brother over a network.

this is where you lot can help...

i'm able to host a game of Duke 3d but the readme provided with the game does not even remotely hint at how you are supposed to join a game thats being hosted.

the user manual says that you can either let the game search for other players on the network or define a code in hex which requires both pcs to have the same code.

i've tried both methods and have left the host pc to search for a full half hour, i even switched the roles of pc's so that i had to join the game i my brother was hosting but still nothing.

i need as much help as i can get as it would be areal shame let this game go unplayed on a network....

all help will be thoroughly appreciated...

You'd probably need IPX installing as a network protocol on both machines - fairly certain it didn't use TCP/IP.

I have a windows port of duke3d at home, that runs over TCP/IP (just requires the duke3d.grp file). When I finish work I'll post more details if ya want?
