    PS3 DNLA Streaming different subnet

    Hi,

I have the below set up at present -

    PS3 ------> Switch <--------TV
    |
    |
    |
    |
    WiFi Router<------Windows PC
    |
    |
    |
    ISP

And I want to be able to stream media from the Windows PC to the PS3 but I cannot currently do this as they are on different subnets.

Is it possible to have everthing on the same subnet and for windows to be able to see the PS3? Currently under devices it just sees the switch and not the two devices connected to it.

PS I have the switch so that I dont have to run too many cables around the house.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

The switch\hub automatically creates a new subnet. Is it possible to have them all on the same subnet?

Er the switch shouldn't create a new subnet at all on your local network. Something is messed up if you have that situation. The router routes between your network and the ISP, everything your side of the router should be the same, unless you have 2 things acting as DHCP servers. Your setup the way you have drawn it seems weird to me too! A switch between the PS3 and the TV? I'm slightly confused!

Just make sure your router is doing the DCHP stuff.

Ah Ive just realised the spaces id put in my post have been removed somehow.

The centre line should run from the switch to the router not the PS3 to the router.

However you mentioning DHCP has made me realise my problem - I think its not a switch at all and it is in fact a wired router. Sorry it's been laying in the attic so long id forgotten what it was.

I'll need to log into it and turn off DHCP eh?

Yes, and you'll also need to make sure that the wifi router plugs into the switch ports on the second router, not into the WAN port. Good luck with that set up - I used to run something similar (but slightly more nuts) as a wifi bridge some years ago and it was... a little flaky, lets says. You might have better luck since you're just using wires though.
