Hi,
I had a new BT line installed (through sky) yesterday, and broadband activated. Everything appeared to be working fine, and broadband still is..but I cannot make outgoing calls.
After some diagnosis with the help of sky, we discovered the actual problem I that I cannot dial using tone dialling (ie the current standard). I have 2 types of phone - an old one with a switch between tone/pulse, and some new dect ones that can only do tone dialing.
I can dial out via pulse (when it clicks), but it takes ages..but it fails when try to use tone dialing/my dect phones.
Sky have booked in a BT engineer - the chap thinks its either an issue at the exchange with my card, or something with how the wiring has been done by the BT engineer yesterday, so is confident I won't get slapped with a charge..but of course it's a bit worrying that I might.
Has anyone else had a similar problem before? Could it be an internal wiring issue? I'm on a new build estate and the builders are still here, so if it is something like that I can collar them to get it sorted quicker (and without the risk of fees )
