Without knowing the details of the setup it is impossible to give hard advice, but in general, the camera must have an IP address (which it may get from a DHCP server in your router, or (preferably) you manually assign one to it (within your internal network range). If the built in html server in camera is set to receive incoming traffic on port 80, then port forwarding for port 80 has to be set to that IP address. However you may find that the camera uses a different port (in case you are running a web server, for example). You might be able to set that yourself (once you have access to the camera interface) but common ports for that are 8080 and 8081.

Have you got the camera manual? That should tell you the default settings.

Don't think you upset spoon - he only asked what the make of camera is!

What are the media and web port numbers set to? My guess (and it only a guess) is that one is a control port, the other is the output for video (as html)

Can you get control of the camera at all? Can your friend see it on his local network? (And get video out from the local netrwork?) Once that is done, he can set up port forwarding on the router so it can be accessed from the internet.
