    Another "New Router" advise question

Hi I'm in the market for a new router and would like some advise if possible please.

Currently have a Draytek Vigor 2800VG for the last 4-5 years and it's worked perfectly but the time has come to upgrade to wireless N and get something a bit newer.

My line isn't great I'm on ADSL2+ with an Attenuation of around 37 but my SNR is bad, at best it will be 14 at worst 6-7.

I tried the new Draytek 2830n but it just couldn't hold the line and had frequent disconnects.
So I'm sending it back. Bizarrely when I plug my old 2800 in it's fine and solid as always.

It's only a home setup I have so I'm looking for something to reliable and stable and quick as needed.

Budget isn't really a problem (within reason) and I would like it to be easy to use and setup as I'm not a techy so plug and play etc is good as is an easy to use interface.

I've seen the new Netgear WNDR370 but I've read numerous reviews all conflicting, some say it's great others say it's useless so I'm a little wary but I honestly don't know what else is out there.

I don't need VOIP or anything fancy, to be honest going for the new Draytek was a bit overkill but I'd rather pay more to get quality where I can.

I'm running 1 LAN, 1 Vodafone signal booster and a homeplug booster to extend wireless range.
I have a couple of laptops and phones that will use the router too.

Thanks in advance for any pointers.

if you VG is still working and you are happy with the sync why not just get an N access point?

Valid point but I just want a new router that will do me for another 4 years but that is inline with the current stats.

The VG also gets really hot and I suspect it isn't very energy efficient either.

    What about a nice Draytek 2710 - Does Wireless N - http://bit.ly/9iN1U8

Not sure how the 2800 can't be energy efficient - it's a router. It's power draw in comparison to your PC will be negligible (<30watts I'd guess).

Dunno I'm a bit put off Draytek's now...I kinda feel they don't make em like they used to.

What's the Billion like? Not heard of that brand before.

Oh and you can get energy efficient routers, my current Vigor gets so hot both on the router and the power pack, that means it's losing a lot of energy as heat.
I noticed on the netgear it has a setting to drop down the power if you don't need it.

I have the 7800N and it's excellent as far as I'm concerned. It generates a fair bit heat too but it's very well ventilated. If you're only using one wired connection, it's probably overkill for your needs.
My only concern is should I hide my true identity? A costume maybe?

0iD: Plus weeing in it every now & again does it good

I just got a billion (router) myself but I haven't had the chance to trial it yet - but yes it's a warm beastie (but supposed to be very good).
