I've never experienced internet speed, latency and reliability like that of NTL who I believe were later bought by Virgin?
I'm with Sky at the moment and it's tragic, just tragic. Thankfully I have a NAS that downloads while I am at work.

@leonkehoe: I'm on a strict diet of French bread. That's just how I roll.
Currently on their 50mb package, and pretty pleased with it.
Me and one other housemate download a lot of stuff etc, decent speeds and very little down time.
Me and another housemate are fairly active gamers, decent ping etc.
100mb will be very nice indeed
Plus one on the pro Virgin stance here. I've been on the 20 meg service for 2 years of mostly very good service, after about 5 of totally "£$% service over BT's aged ADSL lines. I've avoided jumping to the superhub to get the 30 meg connection due to issues some have had - will be interesting to see how well it runs when I get, presumably, a bump to 60.
Currently at a friends house being irritated by his Sky connection. I had Virgin until relatively recently and have since moved to BeThere. 50 meg on Virgin service isn't worth 10 meg on Be... Traffic shaping, peak time restrictions and overloading are all rampant on Virgin. I now pay (considerably) more for a slower connection but I'm happier!
I am with Virgin Media I pay for 50mb and I get just that. I was annoyed when I was on a lower package and speeds were throttled in relation to their fair useage policy so I switched to the XXL package as there are no restrictions.

i just tried to discuss not very successfully, the options of upgrading from 30mb to 50mb or 100mb, and the first guy told me the new price of 50mb will be £34.75 and currently 100mb is £45 but will be reduced to the same price as the 50mb, but another guy told me the 100mb price will be reduced by £7 which makes £38, but that the 50mb would be £35
i was trying to figure out if i should just jump to 100mb and pay the same as 50mb customers yet be on 100mb a few months quicker than the proposed "october to july" upgrade, and if so what is the catch preventing other 50mb customers to move to the 100mb now (if they can, if their area allows it). perhaps the catch is just entering into a new contract if you are already on 50mb and want 100mb quicker
but i found the indian call centres were so frustrating, aparently calls are fielded there at random when there is an overspill at the UK call centre, and the only way to guarantee speaking to UK based staff is to chose the "leave virgin" option, so you'll get someone with a bit more training who is more likely to have actually used VM services and understand customers needs a bit better
Looks like a great time to downgrade to the 10mb option.
they are going to have to send out a lot hell of a lot of superhubs too. Virgin try their best but sometimes just full over.
Im sticking with my modem, there is no way Im having that SuperNonsense, need direct WAN link into ASA without any firewalls or other 'features'

superhubs have a modem mode, and there is a new design in the works too, thankfully
Spoke to a very useful UK operative, my tip is that if you want to speak to someone in the UK just select the "I'm thinking of leaving option". They can still make any changes you want and you speak with someone who knows what's going on.
From talking to this guy, it seems with the speed doubling he says Virgin are trying to stream line there broadband packages as they now do 10mb, 20mb, 30mb, 50mb, 100mb and soon 120mb.
What they're moving to is 20mb, 60mb and 100/120mb. Anything above 20mb needs the superhub as the other router/modem doesn't support the higher speeds. If you upgrade to something now, they'll still give you the free upgrade when the time comes for your speed boost. If you're on 20mb you'll go to 60mb and you'll get the new hub for free (currently going to 30mb requires an activation fee to get the hub).
My upgrade happens in July currently on 20mb and should go to 60mb, upgraded to Tivo recently and they switched in the new hub at no extra cost in anticipation of the speed increase (surprising efficiency).
New hub seems ok now that it's working, making the wifi work was tricky had some weird problem of connections dropping or connecting and not doing anything, was reaching for another hub and going modem mode but finally got it going.
If I remember I'll let you know how the speed upgrade goes. Anyone had a speed increase yet?
I hope when the speed increases happens, you get more bandwidth that goes with it.
Kinda fed up that when am downloading something as little as 2 or 8mbs with a 50mb collection in uTorrent, eBay, Facebook and other sites like that just won't load.
uTorrent will hog up 200Mbps if available, nothing to do with bandwidth but rather a protocol.
