    is this wireless stuff ok?

Hi, I originally wanted some wireless networking kit to share broadband (from an NTL cable box) and files between 3 desktop PCs and 1 laptop.

to save money, the plan is now to have one PC connected with ethernet cable to the router, two PCs connected wirelessly to the router, and then connect a 4th pc to one of the wirelessly connected via ethernet, with the broadband connected to the router.

Is that OK, can that be done with this kit (the pcs all have ethernet cards installed already)

    one of these routers: http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductInfoComm.asp?ID=9911
with a couple of these cards: http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductInfoComm.asp?ID=8223

Any help would be much appreciated. also does anyone know of any online guides to setting things up?

    is cheaper from ebuyer.co.uk -= http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=51436

    - works quite nicely, but the version stocked is EOL (version 3.2 rather than v.4) so doesn't support WPA - but does support WEP 64 and 128 (unlike the belkin for £37 also on ebuyer - which plays silly buggers with it's WEP key settings)

ok thanks for the ebuyer link, having a look round there, i found some even cheaper kit:

Belkin 802.11b Wireless Cable/DSL Internet Gateway Router
Belkin 802.11b Wireless Desktop Network Card (x2)

This stuff look OK, or can anyone recommend anything cheaper? Comes to just under £75 delivered.

    cheers

Don't go cheap when it comes to wireless - I did the same and had endless problems. I've got the Belkin 802.11g series all round now and never had a single problem.
