Maybe you heard differently? Says on the VM forums(http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/...11663#U1311663)
"After a successful beta test and public pilot of our Super Hub's new R36 firmware we're now ready to roll this out to everyone.
Starting tommorrow morning customers on our M20, M+, 100 and XXL 100 tiers will be able to update to the new firmware by rebooting their Super Hub. This will be followed by updates the following week for XL, XXL, L30 and XL60 customers and the week after that for L and 30Mb customers. You can check which tier you're on by logging into my.virginmedia.com.
The new firmware consists of the following changes:
Update to the latest Broadcom wireless drivers.
A fix for issues where downloading large files using the Blizzard Downloader and other multi threaded download applications would cause the Super Hub to reboot.
General improvements to resolve to the Super Hub rebooting or resetting to factory settings during use.
A fix for iPlayer and streaming video problems on the XBox 360 while the Domain Blocking feature is in use.
An updated GUI for the admin screen.
Thanks once again to all our beta testers on the forum for their help proving this firmware release was a solid one.
"
XL should be next week by that i guess, posted 12th so not long ago . Hopefully makes a big improvement but i wont hold my breath/
I dont trust anyone at Virgin who cant spell tomorrow mate
Just rumours at work tbh, i dont really frequent the VM forums since I had a disciplinary meeting (no action taken) over a comment in the Tivo Forums, some folks dont get my sense of humour (i think Mr Branson does, he called his company Virgin ffs!)
oh dear, i can see why you wouldnt want to visit it much then! And yeah i agree, calling your company Virgin... is a joke all in itself .
Regardless, we shall see if the update comes in the next few weeks, if its 8k a day then i can see it taking awhile as there are alot of virgin customers.
Will this fix the issue where bandwidth drops off to about 3mbps, until you reboot the router?
depends on your needs mate, but tbh Modem mode with your Dlink is probably still the best bet, i have no issues at all in modem mode, but then I havent had the update yet, let me get back to you in a couple of weeks once I know what the ups and downs are. This firewall business is annoying me atm, but not had too many calls about it, so will see how it pans out.
I should be getting one soon , part of the free upgrade to 100 meg bb ..
Dareos does this update default the hub back to factory defaults ?
Well mine finally updated to R36 and its wrecked it.
Was working fine until the update. Watching netflix and it keeps stuttering and quality keeps dropping.
Not happy.
Rapid or what.
I pay for 60 Meg.

Its supposed to reset the channel i believe (its now better on auto btw, go figure), but appears to be having different effects depending on what status the modem was in, havent actually dealt with too many so far, will have a better idea by Monday or so, weekend on late shift is gonna be fun.
