    PCI ADSL modem woes...

Is anybody here using an internal ADSL modem?

If so which modem / chipset is it, what provider are you connecting to and do you have any problems?

I'd been using a Conexant based internal modem until recently - it stopped working when I upgraded to 1MB - I was totally and utterly unable to get it to connect (and yet rarely if ever had problems on the 512K service). If I use my old frog (Speedtouch USB that is) it connects everytime without any hassle... I bought another PCI modem which uses a different chipset (Speedtouch PC - as was on Scan's today only offers over the weekend) and it's acting EXACTLY the same way. I'm 99.99% sure I've set everything up correctly (VCI, VPI, connection method, etc) but it's just refusing to work.

    Can anyone help?

I'd phone BT up but they've proven to be absolutely clueless / not interested ("Have you tried rebooting your PC?" - AAAAAARGH! )

What error do you receive when it tries to dial? No dial tone?
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.

It's not even getting that far - it can't activate the line - neither of the PCI modems can. Makes me wonder if BT have done something equivalent to only accepting a connection from the MAC address of the modem they supplied me. I doubt it - but I'm getting paranoid now.
