    Arrow BT Internet Questions

Over christmas, my grandparents are wanting the internet on their computer, but since they don't really know how to do it, they're coming to our house to get me to do it. I've chosen BT internet for then and have one of two questions concerning the link below:

    https://register.btinternet.com/cgi-...e=ANY&period=1

    * Once the software if installed, and it's all registered, will the internet connection ONLY work on the phone line that it's registered to, or will it work on other ones also? I'd like it working at my house to show it as working, but it also has to work at their house too (obviously!).

    * How quick do you think the whole process will be? If possible I'd like it all done in a day - ie no waiting for a few days for registration etc.

It's just a 56K line, so I think all I'd need is their computer (which should have a modem installed) and a phone cable.

    * Is there anything else I should know? I do know HOW to set up an internet connection, it's just it might be different doing it in a different house to where the computer lives .

    Thanks for any help .

Well my dad used to have BT Openworld and I think that only worked on one phoneline, but i'm not sure.

IIRC there isn't anything that says you can't use it on a different phone line but I remember they say you cant use it at the same time (like 2 pcs)

[edit: also, it shouldn't take that long, all you do, connect it all up, then open up Network Connections (iirc) and you then click add new connection and follow on from there.

Simple really, like half an hour max I would have thought]

This thread doesn't have to be limited to BT internet TBH. I'd have thought that if someone had ANY dial up connection working at one place and move to another, they should be able to answer my question.
