    Not necessarily, its all to do with wave patterns etc etc. Mobile phone signal strenghts are sometimes poorer the closer you are to an aerial...

    Don't forget that some wifi stuff have directional aerials... Mount he wifi pci card in the highest slot possible on the PC and then point the aerial towards the router.

    If you need the settings for the router catch me on msn and I can go through it with you, Its relatively easy with the netgear - I didnt get from AOL, bought from ebuyer as I was sick of the crappy voyager thing that AOL sent.
    Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
    Enwrought with golden and silver light,
    The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
    Of night and light and the half-light,
    I would spread the cloths under your feet:
    But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
    I have spread my dreams under your feet;
    Tread softly, because you tread on my dreams.

    Do you need to use the aol software at all? Do you just set up the router with XP no other software needed?

    No AOL software needed! Whack your logon details into the router setup panel and your set to go!

    Nope you just need the router and your PC to access its setup page.
