Does NTL = Completely Static IP address?

I know that with normal ADSL you can disconnect and reconnect and you are given a new IP

We have NTL and get a new IP everytime we connect, so to get a new one just disconnect/turn of the modem and then wait a few seconds and turn it back on

My Dad has had the same IP on NTL for about 2 1/2 years. I dont think they guarentee a static IP but it seems thats what he gets...

Like many other just pull the power from the modem then plug it back in.

Works with the 2 ADSL ISPs i've had.

Everytime you disconnect and reconnect you are given a new IP.

Probably different with Cable broadband

im with ntl and i have the cable modem.

so i just turn it off and turn it on again and the ip address will be changed?

Dynamic IP will change everytime you reboot the modem (well most times).

Static IP will never change by just rebooting the modem.

If you have a static IP contact your service provider, else just reboot the modem.

No, it won't. Not with NTL. You can't manually change your IP.

Im on NTL and thats what happens when it reboots. If you find it doesnt re do the
broadjump CD.

I don't want the broadjump CD. Nor do I want to change my IP address. Don't see the need, and I wasn't aware you could just by rebooting the box
