Is it just the WiFi, wired works fine? The VM SuperHubs aren't very good really, I'd recommend getting your own wireless router and using the Hub in modem mode, much better and more reliable that way.

did you find out about it ??
I am about to switch to VM at the weekend and was hoping their hub3 would be half decent. It seems not from what you guys are saying.
I have about 5 wired devices and 15-20 on wifi - do you think i need a separate router?
Yes, I have less devices than that and had no end of problems, in the end got a separate wireless router and things have improved remarkedly
Jon
sorry, should have been clearer. I have powerline adapters to my office and a 4 port hub with 3 of those wired devices on. So 4 LAN ports is ok for me.
as jonj says, hub wifi is woeful, definitely plan to get your own.
I have the hub 4.0 and it goes down about every 4 days. Utter rubbish.
I have the new Hub 4.0 but even with the 3.0, I would always opt to use my own router. I currently have an Asus AX86U but I have found that even budget/mid-range routers can perform better than the WiFI on the hub. Worth looking into it and simple to set up the modem mode.
Super hub 3 here, no issues. A lot of people go on about it being unreliable but I have never had a problem with it being downstairs and my setup upstairs. Using a gigabyte WIFI card with the antenna.
I am a fan of ASUS routers as you can create a mesh network within the control panel of the router, simple to set up if you need to extend your range. The alternative is to look into mesh network setups that come with multiple routers such as the eero. Also, consider whether you need WiFi 6/6e - most devices are still catching up and these are quite expensive right now.
Hi.
Same situation for me. Wanted a fast ISP, but heard terrible tales of the hubs supplied by VM. Immediately after installation, set it straight to modem mode and let my existing pfSense router do the rest.
Thanks.
Exactly the same as that. The hub 3 isn't really fit for purpose IMO. I've been on Virgin for only a week and it was this comment that got me onto a proper router rather than mess about with the hub3. Within a couple of hours of being on Virgin using hub3 as router & my kids were going crazy with all the lag and disconnects to their consoles. Now running hub3 as modem and got a fairly decent Asus router and it's solid. Thanks Hoonigan.!

Mine has been down since monday but engineer here today with a new 4.0 as the last one stopped working. But just ordered this to help
ASUS RT-AC86U Wi-Fi AC2900.
My mate from holland who does networking is going to help set it up.
the key thing I find when setting it up is entering the DNS lookup addresses in the new router. There are virgin ones you can pull out of the hub before setting it to modem mode, or you can just go with other ones (which I prefer) - eg google/openDNS/<take your pic>
Without doing that I've found the router won't connect to the internet properly. "auto" doesn't seem to work. I've had to do this on both Netgear and Asus routers.
