    Tiscali Broadband woes

Just wondering if any of you have had any major issues with Tiscali Broadband. I myself have gone through an absolute nightmare with these guys, which resulted in my line being cancelled and about 2 days solid on the phone to them.

Anyone else had any issues at all or is this an isolated incident?

What issues are you having? Most of my neighbours are with Tiscali, and I've never heard them complain about it.....except when they started blocking ports that were being used by their P2P apps.

    Where to start..

1.>Line has been flakey from the off, and drops out ever hour or so,
    2.>Slooooooooooow
3.>Customer Service department seems to be full of complete numpties.
4.>They advertise uncapped BroadBand and then cap it anyway
    5.>See 3
6.>They disconnected my line 2 weeks before they were supposed to and then said that there was nothing they could do about it and advised me to go and work from an internet cafe!!!!!
    7.> See 3
    8.> See 3
    9.> See 3

Tiscali is shyte. Sorry but seriously, its one of the worst ISPs around. Have a look at the broadbandreports, adslguide, ispreview websites. The only people that don't seem to have any problems are those who just use their PCs to email and do some occasional websurfing. The T&Cs "small print" is also nasty, and will no doubt catch out unsuspecting buyers. The pricing/bandwith/download limit structure is nothing more than marketing puff.

Yeap - very similar scenario to a friend of mine that ended up coming to mine all the time to use my ADSL as his was like a yo-yo all the time.

He changed ISP and hasn't had a problem since.

bugger - I have an inherent distrust of USB devices

    hope pipex can help you.

If you really want to use a broadband provider with uber customer service then talk to Zen - they are fantastic. I'll Pm you and see if I can save you some cash if you like

I've not had a problem with tiscali, and been with them 5 months. Was on 276kb/s ADSL, and the past 2 weeks, i've been getting 1Mb for nothing. That dropped back down to 276, so i upgraded to 512Kb/s and im still getting speeds in the high 80kb/s.

speeds ver 80kb is around the 1mb range mate, i personaly going 2 move away from tiscali cuz now they have a stupid upload/download limit of 30gb and i just cant work with those figures,

anywaz to the guy that canceled his account, can u cancel it anytime after our first 12 months with them? because i have been with them for more than 2 years now, however i receantly upgraded to the 1mb back in march, does that mean my contract is renewed and have to wait another 12 months b4 i cancel??

I was able to cancel my account within the 12 months contract period easily. When it comes down to it, they advertised the 1mb service as uncapped and then shortly after imposed a 30gb download limit on all accounts.
