    Firefox "find" function

Sometimes, when i open the forum in firefox and try to type in the quick reply box, it starts the find function instead. Maybe i made a mistake and missed the quick reply box when i wanted to type, who knows.

Anyway, i close the find bar at the bottom of the window, click the quick reply box and start typing. Would you believe it, the find bar appears again and starts searching for what i'm typing, not putting it into the quick reply box.

Any one else experienced this? and if so do they know of a fix. The only one i've found is to close down the window and start again.

In my case, changing focus to the text field in question usually fixes it for me; I've never had it happen twice. Only place I've ever seen it is on the Yahoo! email logon screen. The password field has focus, I start typing, and it opens up the Find bar. Change focus back to the password field and it works fine. Maybe try closing the Find bar only after you've typed in the correct text field?

Wow. It just happened to me on a Quick Reply in another thread. I was fairly certain I clicked on it correctly, started type, and up comes the Find bar. Even more suprising is that it then disappeared again after 5 or so seconds (I stopped typing, being momentarily stunned by that "DOH" noise Firefox makes when the Find text can't be found. Volume was a little too high. Anyone know how to disable that stupid "DOH" sound?).

The find bar always dissapears after about 5 seconds. Even if i close the find bar it happens again. Its not a common occurance (2-3 times a week at most) but i'd like it fixed

I don't think so. The odds of using Ctrl with a key that doesn't have an action (Ctrl+Z, Ctrl+X, Ctrl+R, Ctrl+W, etc. The latter closes tabs. Couldn't work out what it was doing until 5 of my tabs were gone. ) are pretty small. In the thread that it happened to me, I believe I started with the letter Y, but Ctrl+Y doesn't have an action, far as I can tell.

what version of firefox are you running.

I've had this problem on my laptop which is still running 1.0.

It seems to be when I type case and use the ' key so if I type I've it types I then ve in the find box.

it does it at random points though, its not every time.
    It is Inevitable.....

Version 1.0.4 here. Though I think I first saw this in version 1.0.2.

ikonia, that third line in your post is a bit dodgy.
It seems to be that, when I type in upper case and then use the apostrophe (') key, it moves input to the find box. So if I try to type "I've", it types "I", opens the find box, and puts "ve" in there.

no, I asked what version number you where running to see if it had any relation to the version I was running (where I was seeing the problem), and you responded with 1.0.4 so therefore the version number had no relevence.

    then silent ben said

    it's 1.0.4
because he said "it's" I wondered if he meant " it is a bug in 1.0.4 - thats why I asked whats 1.0.4 as in what do you mean by "it's"
