    Advantage of a Fixed IP?

Just about to sign-up to Bulldog 4MB package, is there any good reason why I should pay an extra £4.99 a month for a fixed IP address?

So you can host your own webpage / server I guess, you can foward a domain e.g www.famished.co.uk to it, and ppl can see it from your pc... if you have a changing IP, then each time you disconnect, the IP will change, the page wont work

I think thats what you can do anyway

Or you can use a service like DynDNS to redirect to your machine even when it's allocated a new IP address. If you're happy to use one of their domain names, the basic service is free.

Pretty much the case that if you don't know what it is, you don't need it.

If you are connecting into work through VPN for example, it helps in creating firewall rules to allow your access.

Also handy for hosting games servers where you want others to be able to add your server to favourites.
