Sygate pro is head and shoulders above the rest. The free non-pro personal firewall is also a good product.
It's a great product because it has a low CPU hit is totally reliable and comes with a great reverse DNS lookup and an easy to configure rules base for blocking unwanted intruders.
I also like PC-Cillin and Norton but thought that ZA , Bullguard and IpCop (?) had too big a hit on CPU especially when in a peer to peer environment.
I think Zonealarm Pro and Norton Personal Firewall are among the best ive used
m0.

I use Zonealarm Pro, seems to work well and keep everthing out.
Black Ice Defender - I used it a loong time ago and back then it was the best from the ones I tried. Now I have a hardware wally so I am not really updated on whats best now. BID was "it" for me 2-3yrs ago though

Norton's antivirus software is excellent. Unfortunately the firewall is not so much so

Being a SygatePro user, the results were quite alarming.

Thats a great read, I've just downloaded the Outpost Firewall 2.0 PRO 1 Month Trial and it is as good as it says. I'm going to move to this from my ZoneAlarm free version at home.Originally posted by Rod911

are any of those easily deployable ?
I've got a largeish number of laptops I'd like to deploy a software firewall to.
basically they are remote users who hook the system up to their remote DSL lines which isnt' ideal.
I want it to just work without any form of user intrusion.

GPO will deploy any exe if you create a .zap file.
Dunno about configuring it though!
Why do people say ZA is pants? Ive used it and had no problems with it.
