    Vigor2600 Router keeps going down

    Over the past few days, the ADSL connection has gone down a lot. Typically, the router will attempt to re-establish it; it often takes two or three attempts, and then the connection may only stay up for a few minutes before it goes down again. I contacted BT, who performed a line test and claimed that there's no problem.

    It's intermittent; at the time of writing, the router/connection has been behaving; earlier this evening, it was up and down like a yo-yo.

    Help!!!!!

    very unusual for a Draytek to do anything wrong at all! DO you have access to any other form of router or even USB modem to test and see if the BT connection really IS stable as they say or actually unstable?

    Are you on RADSL ?, if so their is a different firmware to help with d/c problems.

    Whats your SNR ?

    ISP is BT BUSINESS BROADBAND

    Ok, the connection has been up for 4 hrs using a bb modem and hasn't gone down once so i think it is the router's fault.

    Agent my SNR MARGIN is 32.0 but is variable (sometimes it is 49 and sometimes it is 5.5

    And i THINK i am on adsl don't know what the hell radsl is

    That's really weird - I had this problem last night. I went into the Draytek configuration page and watched the connection dying in much the same way it does when you hit 'Drop PPPoA' in that the WAN status was offline and it kept firing up every two minutes or so only to drop again. Funnily enough, I found my sister using her laptop modem to dial into the office and as soon as I yanked out the laptop and the splitter it worked just fine again. I'm with Pipex and according to them there were no reported outages last night. I also don't believ in coincidences so troughout the day I'll enquire from the others in this company who have a home VPN (I give everyone a 2600 just for that purpose) and I'll see if anyone else has had this problem.

    One of my clients has had exactly the same problem with their 2600, but its a year old now, also the unit is very hot to touch.

    When trying to access it via the web interface, the router has frozen & has to be powered off & back on. Let me know how you get on as im going to be replacing this one.

    Ok i got the mail from draytek support site and this is what they say

    It is stable since 2 hrs, just have to see now.

    I did a little checking and the switch engineers here all agree it was BT fiddling about with the lines (the fluctuating SNR is the giveaway). In my case it was too many RENs on the same line though I seem to have been a victim of BT tampering with the lines too.
