Tiscali broadband has been good to me, always had decent speeds, I have a 1mb account and downloa at speeds of 89k/bs a sec.
However the service is horrible, those indian call centers read everything from script and cant help you at all.
Im migrating to UkOnline next week, 2mb for £15 a month, cant argue with that.
I will let you guys know how it goes.
Zen are always good. Never have bad moments. They've got enough measures in place that bad moments don't happen.Originally Posted by Twigman
Yes, phone the previous tennents. Or wait for them to cancel it, they're still paying for that service. I imagine they'll cancel it once a few bills come through
They might have signed up for a 12month contract, and then only used 9 months of it, reconning that it would be cheaper to pay the last three bills, than to pay the cancelation fee and return the free modem (which they might have lost).Originally Posted by specofdust
If you are the landlord you should have rights to force BT to disconnect the line, but if you are just the next tennat you will probably have to take the ofcom route. (Unless the last tennats will tell you what you need to know). In any case you should not be libale for the BT standing charge on the line, as it was in the old tennant's name. Tell BT that you don't want phone service, and that you will not be paying for it.
If the old tennents have DSL for it, and its cheaper for them to keep it then stop it, maybe you should try and get in touch with them and offer to pay maybe half or a third in exchange for the user name and password. Cheap DSL for you and they have to spend less money.

You are paying premium for the "insurance" in some sense.
The other thing is that a 'whois' will show your full name. Perhaps not a huge deal, but something I rather not want.
Since the subdomains(or is it full domains, I can't remember) Zen assign you are so totaly random eg. zen2319515151.net no-one is likely to be able to find you unless you actually use that domain and point another more easily remembered one towards it, so not really a big deal.
But yes, the extra money is insurance, and also paying for features over and above your standard DSL package. Still, its very nice
