Speedtouch 330 USB - BT Broadband

My Voyager is pretty much dead, of that I am convinced.

BT seem determined to do a line test first though, which they said on monday would take 2 days, phoned yesterday and was told another 5 days. I borrowed an ununsed Speedtouch 330 from a friend but can't get it to work (this happened when my last voyager died, but they replaced it anyway and it worked fine).

How does one go about setting this modem up for use with BT's 2Mbps package?

I've tried the default username and (no) password (BT's site suggests 'BT' if it needs a pw, tried it aswell) but get 'No Dial Tone'

    Cheers,
    David

Assuming you have two solid green lights on 330 you should be able to connect with the @btbroadband domain name.

Just use your email password if you have to. The RAS only authenticates on ADSL line number and domain name.

^^ what he said - you need to see if the modem syncs first.

interesing about the line test - Zen will do them on the spot and over the phone.

I suppose thats the difference between a quality ISP and BTopenwound

get hold of a decent router and a decent ISP

phone up BT and ask for your MAC code ( this is not the same as a MAC address - its the code required to migrate you off your ISP ) then order a line with Zen.
If all goes according to plan they can migrate you pretty fast.

Sounds like a plan, i'll need to find out when my 12month contract is up first though, so I don't have to pay the remainder of it for leaving early?

Anyways, i've got the Voyager plugged in justnow and it can connect (Albeit for about 2mins at a time) but I left the Speedtouch plugged in and the ADSL light never went solid, left it for 5 mins and nothing happened :S

As far as I know fine, I took one and use it an someone elses house and it ran fine - i've unplugged everything else and jus used that filter and still a flashing light on the Speedtouch.

try and borrow a better if possible ( I'd recommend a draytek - I think they do a lower budget version now ) - the 2500.

Yep, i'm looking for anyone with a router they're nae using. The speedtouch is the only one i've found so far...which is a bit of a kick in the b***s, but nevermind. I'll need to get some money to get me this -

    nope

but feel free to post a new thread on it ( offers of beer, food and carnal knowledge of female friends would probably help your case )
