Droping In A Gigaswitch To My Network

o.k soon i'l be switching over to uk-online as in isp and loseing my dlink dsl-g604t
slince the actiontech 54 Mbps Wireless DSL Gateway GT701-WG only has one port i'l thorght i'l up grade my linux box nic to a giga (10/100 onboard) and makeing it a file server, so i thorhgt i'l get this and this for my linux box, now i'm not to shore cable wize what to get , would this be o.k ?? since Brodbandbuyer dont do cat6.
please rember i'v only got about £80 inc postage to do this with

yep, all that gear would be fine.. Cat5e will support 1000Base-TX ethernet.

I use the GA311 nics and the 5 port gigaswitch from netgear and they work great. I wired my whole house with CAT5e and all the NICs connect at 1000mbps - the connections max out though at around 300mbps sustained but that's still a vast improvemnt over 100mbps networks. I can stream video to both of my daughters pc's at the same time from my server with no problems at all.

Yep, was getting around 230 with a single drive and changed to raid using 2 x 120Gb drives and got up to the 300 mark. Think it'll be a good few years before the network is the bottleneck.
