ADSL Modem/Router Configuration. Sweex Annex A

Hey, Just bought an ANNEX A router to try and hook up 2 PC's and an XBox to our single Broadband connection - I can get the router to play along via the Ethernet cable but I don;t know how to invoke my Tiscalli connection via the router.

Right now I'm using a SAGEM USB modem and I have to use dial-up to invokve the connection dialing 0,38 to get the modem to connect.

Unfortunatly when hooking up the router/modem to my phone-line it dosen't do anything. The documentations next to useless for anyone a bit novice.

    So any help? Please

A little bit of an update and more information, I finaly managed to get my head around the Configuration program and configured the router with Tiscali's details for ADSL now my routers ADSL light stops blinking and stays on which according to the manual means
that its "SHOWTIME" and I'm connected with no issues.

Unfortunatly loading up my browser still gives me no connection - Network Dial-up pops up and gives me a dial-tone error and I still can't browse the web and other things such as msn/telnet/etc won't work.

    Any ideas?

Assuming that the router is connected to your computer via the ethernet port... and you are using windows of some flavour...

You need to configure the router by connecting to it. The router's manual should give you the default IP address - often 192.168.1.1. It should also give the username and password of the router itself (often root or admin, with a default password of which admin, password, epicrouter are common examples.

Again, by default, the router should hand out IP addresses automatically as most contain a DHCP server which is enabled by default. Assuming TCP/IP networking is enabled on the computer, entering the IP address of the router in the address bar of the browser should bring up the configuration pages of the router. You can then enter the parameters for the connection, o,38, your username, password etc. If the browser does not open the admin pages of the router, go to a windows comand line wndow and type ipconfig. This should return the IP address of your computer, and the gateway address, which is the address of the router. If it doesn't do that, then you will have to manually set up an initial IP address for your computer to get it to conect.

It would help to know what make of router it is. Have you looked at the mfr web pages?

like I said it's a SWEEX Annex A, I've configured it via its default IP and configured the settings tiscali said I needed too, unfortunatly I still don't know how to have the browser invokve the connection which is what I need to know.

I've passed that step - according to the router and its LED's the ADSL connections working... Yes its Ethernet and its windows 98.

Information I know I should of provided sorry for leaving that.

Any further assitance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

If you are using IE, have you set the configuration to connect via LAN? (Tools, internet options, connections, never dial a connection)
