BT Intelligent Gateway 1800/2Wire ADSL Router password

Can anyone help?
I am trying to get a used BT Intelligent Gateway 1800 (made by 2Wire) ADSL router working, since my existing router is giving trouble. It is asking for a system password (not the key code – it says ignore that and press enter), before I can set up the network connection. Can you help me get it going please? What is the factory default? Could it have been changed by the previous user? Can I reset it?

most routers will reset the password to factory default when reset these password are usually blank or 'password'

The other 'default' passwords I have seen recently are

1234
admin
epicrouter (only for cennexant chipsets usually)
default
router

If none of these work then it is usually a sign that the password has been changed from the original setting. Never used 2wire but most routers will return to factory settings when the rest button is held down for more than 10 seconds.

Thank you very much, but how do I find the reset button?
I can't find anything that looks like a button, or a hole with one inside.
