    I have heard of some people using kites to achieve insane distances. An interesting experiment but probably not the most robust long term solution!

    Something suitably tall? Hmm..Do you think BT would notice if I made one of their telephone poles double the height?

    (so far they haven't noticed the network cable I've looped around one to my friend's house....)

    Well the problem you have aint getting something that big it's keeping it upright and in the ground. You will need a massive hole and a lot of cement. Look for a block of flats or something.
