    Recommendations on ISP?

I'm currently on Zen at my line's limit of 2Mb, and paying in excess of £25/mo, but i believe its uncapped which is good.

Since i'll be staying at this house for at least a year, i was wondering if there are better uncapped 2Mb+ services out there for cheaper?

I dont mind paying for speed i wont use (like an 8mb line even if my line only goes up to 2), since i think eventually my line will support the speed. As long as its cheaper than £25/mo and no limits.

    Thanks!

Ps, are cable tv/phone/internet packages a good deal?

I will struggle to get an uncapped service thats any good for under 25 quid, its just not economically viable for the ISP's anymore. To be honest i would stay where u r. I have Pipex 1mb which is uncapped and unlimited and I can max it out when downloading stuff and I pay 23.44 for that. If your determind to move then look at someone like Nildram they are very open about the limits they impose on thier lines. Combo packages can be very good, but customer service can sometimes be a bit pants and the net the provide is sometimes not always of substandard quality in terms of stability and useability IE speed

    Permanently confused

Well there are a host of isps to choose from out there mate, what i would suggest is that you find out how close/far you are to an exchange and then go from there.

Not sure which isp's cover Bournemouth area, I would try telewest/bt, not sky becuase initially you have to fork out a quite a lump.

Alternatively you could go for a cable solution. Me personally, i prefer cable. As always the choice is yours.

    Regards

£9.99(inc vat) sort of uncapped - uncapped between midnight and 6pm, 20GB per month between 6pm and midnight.

and then it varies up to £21.99 (inc vat), as above, but you get priority over other users on your exchange (no idea how that works!) and 50GB between 6pm and midnight, uncapped outside those times. Which is pretty much uncapped if you ask me!! ie ie 1 & 2/3 GB per night, on average!

I've been with em years, had great service and speed - look em up on adslguide.org too.

Oh sorry, my current location is Coventry, bournemouth is my uni town.

I'm trying to set something up for my brother and sister at this coventry house.

We've got freeview, a BT phone, and 1mb broadband, all separate.

I just looked at Telewest, they can do me a good deal replacing all 3 services for £35/mo, does anyone know if they are really uncapped? And if telewest are any good?

I hope so as they would save me at least £15/month and get me decent TV back

Im on Eclipse Evo 3, £12.99 for 3 months, 8mb, 30gb in the 6 hours off peak time (6-midnight daily) and unlimited off peak.

I decided to hell with it, i was never going to find an uncapped isp. As most programs now have schedules aswell you can set them to pause during the peak time.

Signed up for twelve months to avoid the activation fee.

Been with Eclipse 3 times previously, so had no quibbles in going back.

I'm with Pipex but I'm not sure if I'd recommend simply because the ability for me to regrade to Max hasn't yet been made available. It's been a long time coming.

However if you want some good reviews and customer opinions on ISP's, be sure to check out www.adslguide.org.uk it really is the one stop shop when it comes to ISP's.

I went for option 4 - only for the wireless router over the regular modem though - will most likely downsize in 12 months.

How do you handle a 12month contract in a student house?

I only rent from the end of september to the end of june

You dont have to sign up for twelve months. Though when we used eclipse in a student house, we signed up for twelve months still as the rental was for 12 months.

Likewise this time the rental is 12 months.

You can sign upto a monthly contract with eclipse, but you have to pay for activation. thats the only bummer.

Still, activation fee or not, you're probably going to have to pay it with most ISP's... and why not pick eclipse. Theyre one of the best.
