    Best no-frills ADSL ISP???

I've got a friend who want an affordable Broadband package for less than £15/month. She won't be using the internet for more than 1hr per day and doesn't therefore need to pay for a high data transfer. She doesn't live in an area with an unbundled exchange (ie: Talk Talk's "free boradbnad" package unsupported

I was thinking about PlusNet's PAYG @ £14.99/month (2Gb Data transfer) but open to suggestions...

I've heard a little about Freedom2Surf but don't actually know anyone (apart from Hexus users) who uses them. I'll look into them thanks!

Having done a little more research, I've gone off PlusNet. Despite being very happy with them personally (been with them for 6 years) I'm not going to recommend them to my friend as they seem to be going through a bad patch at the moment. My service is unaffected but new users don't seem to be fairing so well...

F2S sounds great and I think for the money they will do very nicely. Thanks for the suggestion Dave87.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Plusnet purchase freedom2surf? My friend has been complaining about their reliability (though he does have a Belkin router) since this occurred.

that customer service comes at a price, however. You'll pay more and get less, but should things go pearshaped, there will be someone to help

Eclipse are doing a £9.99 job for 3 months atm, then £14.99 after.

There is also NewNet, get a lot of good reviews atm: http://www.newnet.co.uk/broadband/home_info.php - £11.99 - 2Gb Data.

The best company for sevice and reliablity is Zen. I'm not with them right now, and to be fair Pipex have been good to me, but Zen are reliably good. That said, they are out of your price range i think, so sorry.
You might want to check out www.adslguide.org.uk who have a great compare section as well as general info.
I'm commenting on an internet forum. Your facts hold no sway over me.

    Thanks everyone for your input.

So it appears that F2S is now owned by Pipex. Do I assume therefore that the two companies would offer the same or similar products and services. The prices seem the same.

Eclipse is new to me but seems to be better value than Pipex or F2S.

Zen is undoubtedly the best I agree but is too much to pay.

    So vote now for:

    Eclipse
    F2S (Freedom2Surf)
    Pipex
    Another ISP???

I'll go with the ISP that gets the most votes - I trust you lot

Im currently with Eclipse and while I have little trouble with them at the moment, there are lots of people who do, and their Customer Support doesn't get many brownie points either.

Don't think i'd touch F2S with someone else's, nor Pipex.

Have a look at NewNet, they get decent reviews, they have a forum on ADSLGuide, have a look

Had very bad experience with Pipex, will never get my money again period........one of the worst companies I have dealth with.

Been with ukonline for nearly 12months, been great, 1mb for 9.99 no caps a month but 12 month contract is only disadvantage.

I dont think Pipex are bad tbh, been with them for around a year now and not had any problems that are their fault, and the speed has been the same, never really any slow down.
