If you haven't swapped back to the asus firmware yet:
turn off Use DNSMasq for DHCP (Setup/basic setup)
turn off DNS Masq (Administration/management)
Alternatively look into the overclocking features, though I've never needed that.

Also try reducing your upload speed. Dont saturate your upload. Check out azureus, they have excellent guides on most aspects regarding routers and general torrent practices. I guess all those free unix images need downloading quick
When downloading at 100kbps on utorrent my net speed is reduced from 10MB/s to 1.9MB/s (plus 100kB/s) with my MSI RG54G3! Serves me right for buying that hunk of crap I guess.
My problem is nothing to do with upload settings seeing as it happens when not even using bit torrent.
This thing also has other problems, when I turn on the computer connected via ethernet the wireless one will disconnect. By turning down the signal power though it now only disconnects and reconnects rather than not reconnecting at all. Pehaps it will sort out other problems too.
