So I was on 2mbps and er.. I still am apparently..
Synched at 7.6mbps yesterday - upload speed is faster but downloads 'capped' at 2mbps (240k/sec) which appears to be part and parcel of the 10 day 'training' process.
Patience isn't a virtue at times like these and I was reallly hoping to see big download speeds last night - but it's just as it was before.. I wonder how long it will be before it considers my line 'safe' enough to ramp it up?

The point is, i'm sat synched - 100% reliably - at 7.6 the _only_ thing limiting my speed is the IP rate at BT's end which hasn't moved from the default 2.0 since day 1. It's confusing because there are TWO limits on your line - the synch rate and the IP rate - the IP rate is determined by the DLM which sets the bRAS profile for your line. My thoughts are that there's a problem their side and i'm literally stuck with a lower IP rate than is necessary (remember i've had no synch issues and resynching achieves the same rate constantly). I'm about 100m from my exchange. The DLM should allocate a profile rate of around minus 500kbits/sec from your synch rate after three days of error free use - it's clearly not doing that and i've the line stats and uptime to show it.
