    how much of a bad idea is Talktalk broadband?

    I've just moved house and have had Plusnet as my ISP for the last few years.

    I am with talktalk for my phone and i was looking at going with them for broadband also. I use about 8-10gb a month and and 8 meg speed would be sufficient.

    Has anyone had good experiances with talktalk or knows what are they like for p2p etc?

    I know you get what you pay for etc, but i would be saving around £10 a month by going with this option + getting free phone calls.

    Are they really as bad as everyone says?!

    I think it's the fact that they are struggling to activate everyone's lines, and it is, IIRC, an unbundled service too.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    wats iirc ? im with talktalk 3 international ... free calls to fit holland girls everynite !!!! i got free 1 hour calls on every call . u jus end the call on the say 59th minute and re dail and another free 1 hr call ....

    its not 8mb , my frnd wiorkiing in talktalk got me setup in 2 motnhs ... he admit to me there are un adoubltly large surge of customers and there are teething problems becase capacity is exceeded sales team . my other frnd 3 months still in waiting list lol!!

    they blamed that im 2 far and i can only get 1mb , but i was previously wiv buldog 8mb . lol . liars !! btw my 1mb connection gives me about 80-112kbs throughput on torrents and its 256k up as my entgear dg384g wireless adsl modem router says

    everything is online based so its bit annoyin if u want to cancel/downgrade. wen u do get thru to customer service it just cuts off but lukcily i spk to my m8 ...lol !

    thanks guys,

    I think i'm going to look at a supplier that will be quicker to activate and allow a bit more downloading scope!

    Perhaps Zen or Be

    Just remember to look at their "Fair Use Policy" before you sign up.
    A lot of the "unlimited" ones are unlimited only so long as you only use the sevice for a little email and web browsing. Take your 8MB download speed and try to use it for 24 hours, and suddenly you're Persona Non Grata, and abusing the service.

    my old mans on talk talk, never noticed a problem, paperwork sent through in good time etc, line activated on the day (well i tested on the day, may have been b4) and i never got a phone call saying it wont connect to the internet.

    only get 1mb at his house, even though i have not checked as ADSL Max got rolled out so it may have gone up a bit.

    Re: how much of a bad idea is Talktalk broadband?

    TalkTalk is pretty good when it is setup and running properly, P2P is not a problem, and unlimited seems to depict unlimited, unless I never reached fair use policy limit !!

    Better than BT, they charge via 2 direct debits, send out emails on usage, frown upon P2P, and sting you for calls (when compared to TalkTalk). Glad TalkTalk dont do credit cards !! can you imagine the chaos with billing and customer services, how many languages would you need to learn ??
