    Cable transceiver to WAP?

Just a quick question; am I able to hook up my cable transceiver (standard NTL one) directly to a WAP? I'm assuming a WAP has a MAC address. It's just I want to use my lappy as well as my desktop system on my current connection

any current router will do all it does is plug straight into the Ethernet port on the modem and bob's your uncle

    this should be fine

as alsenior said, you need a wireless router as opposed to a basic access point. There needs to be something that that will handle the NAT and DHCP for you. The NTL modem can't do this on its own.

I did struggle getting a Belkin router connected to my cousins NTL connection, but a Dlink one sorted that out (although the handy wizzard didn't transfer the security details into the router, so ended up having to set it up manually which i should have done in the first place).
