need help urgent please

Hi,
I have set my PC up with a wireless router to my PC and I use an ethernet cable to the PS2.
The problem is my internet gateway has disappeared and I can't play PS2 games properly online.
It was all set up just now and the gateway was working as soon as I started to play a few seconds later the gateway closed and I have no idea how to get it back up or why it goes?
Any help advice appreciated.
It is driving me mad.

Is it possible that the router needs a port to be cleared or a DMZ declared ?

I'm not a gamer, but that might lead you in the right direction...

Which model router is it ?

I have a netgear router but I think it was the firewall blocking it as I have messed around with the settings on this and it seems to be working now. Thanks for the reply.
