A 'regrade' is where they change the connection speed plan that you are on.
I think it is different from your billing plan.

Also please bear in mind that if Virgin are like Pipex they will renew your 12 month contract on the date of the regrade therefore locking you in again for a further 12 months.

This was something that I found out after my regrade as they 'failed' to make me aware of this fact.

Not sure what they are going to do to my connection speed then.

I was on 8 meg, which is there highest available.....

Fortunately, Virgin is a monthly contract

One good thing about them, although they try and charge a £50 cancellation fee when you move on.

Looks like my issue has actually been resolved.

    To summarise:

I was on Plan 1 , 8 meg. Although connection was always good I received high pings during peak time (200-300).

They have now regraded my plan to a 2 meg connection (but still on Plan 1 - only connection speed has changed).

This gives me low pings but obviously slower download times.

Not sure if this is something a lot of people are getting on 8 meg deals but might be worth checking with your ISP.

Anyway, for now I'm happy with 2 meg but may change ISP if I want a 8 meg.

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Was fixed for a grand total of two nights!

Come the weekend it all goes T*TS UP again.

I am definitely throwing in the towel with virgin.net.

    Exclamation Broadband speeds

NTL has brought Virgin.net, and will be rebranded. It will still be known as Virgin, as this was part of the deal, as it is the 3rd most recognised brand in the uk, and also the Tech support from virgin is prize winning. Regards to speeds, there is alot of trouble with Bt upgrading lines, which all falls back to when Thatcher would not let BT lay high quality data cables during her reign.

You've just read the glossy marketing leaflet that came through all our doors and it looks like their strategy has worked with you

    1) Tech Support - Prize Winning lol! Only if you never use it.

    2) Speeds - Have since found out that they are currently upgrading their hardware and have loads of issues with it and ip streaming. Hopefully will be resolved by end of March when their hardware upgrade is supposed to be completed.

Thing is , you could change isp's and find out that in a couple of months your new one comes out with a hot deal and signs up another half million punters all looking for a better deal and you will find that you are back to square one , it's a case of 'how fat the pipe is at any one time'

    Virgin Media

I think you will find that i work for them, anyhow until lines are allowed to be brought by other companies and investment made, the speeds are not going to change. Best bet is go with cable!

Well, my ping issue has been resolved

Only have 2 meg download now (instead of 8) but ping is very low and stable. Regrade (streaming change) completed properly now.

Have been advised to request move back to 8 meg after March when Hardware upgrade should be completed.

Nice to see there is good communication within Virgin
