Question Shuttle SN41G2...nForce Drivers or Not ?

Ok, I have a SN41G2 which as you all probably know has the nForce chipset.

Now nVidia released a new nForce package a few days ago and I am wondering whether I can use that on the Shuttle or whether I should wait for a Shuttle update ?

The reason I want to update is because at the moment I cannot play any games on my Shuttle using the onboard GFX. Basically CS (CounterStrike) loads but as soon as it begins to display the map the game freezes and then GPFs !!

I have put the latest Shuttle Drivers on and am thinking about a BIOS update...

Nvidia are the best place to get the drivers. They should install just fine .

Yeah I lost paitence in waiting for a reply so I jumped in and but the nForce drivers on.

    They are just peachy

One thing that other Shuttle owners might like to keep an eye on is this:

I updated to the latest BIOS which offered some fixes and tweaks. THe update create (amongst others) 2 pieces of functionality, spread spectrum, one for the CPU and one for the AGP. By default it was enabled @ 0.5. The shuttle was fine until I tried to play an OpenGL game, at which point the WindowsXP actually rebooted the machine !!

After playing around and searching the web, I found out that this spread spectrum functionality is there to reduce EMI (electro magnetic interferance) and unless EMI is a problem for you, you should disable the options in the bios as they do (reported all over the place) make your PC less stable

You can use detonator FX drivers for the onboard graphics (if you use it) on that rig as well

The nVidia package went on slick as snot on mine as well. Useful information on the spread spectrum, Il that later!

Yeap, can definatley use the nVidia drivers.

All my problems were being caused by the spread spectrum stuff

That is a seriously useful bit of information there!

You have got me really interested in getting results on this. Im gonna do some tests and see what happens. I damn well bet I can get my stability sorted with this.

    Thanks for that

I'm really hoping it is. Just fixing up a shuttle, and dear lord, 3 minutes of user input for a basic XP install has currently taken, ohh... 20 hours and counting. Please god let it have been spread spectrum causing troubles (and wrong fsb, multi, mem speed & timings....). If not, kill me, please

oh yeah, back ot... I guess ticks across the board for nforce drivers is ok? About to try it anyway. Expect cursing here in 10 mins if not.
