but yes i probably will go corsair

This is the thing mate, as you are specifically going for a system with the intention of overclocking it, it makes sense to get a decent board. If getting a decent board means that you cant afford your system this week, then dont get it this week. It might sound harsh, but you will be glad you did it in the long run
Maybe something like this
as a bare minimum?
well im not going with the intention specifically to Overclock it, and im not going to be breaking any records, im just going to go for a very reasonable and stable clock of something like 2.6-8.
and what is it you actually mean by build quality, as the only time ill be touching it is installing it, and hopefully then in a year or two after another upgrade somewhere down the line.
By build quality, I mean that the DS3 that I had, was flimsy, cheap and nasty rubbish. When you do a side by side comparison with another board, the differences in quality were glaringly obvious.
There were a lot of bios issues when I had mine, and no doubt that they will have been ironed out, but there were some hardware problems that a bios update couldnt fix.
Go and stand in a dark corner and have a word with yourself.
That is THE worst piece of advice i have seen on these forums (and most forums ive been to tbh).
The fella wants to 'future-proof' this rig as much as possible and some of you are telling him to downgrade to a Hiper from a Corsair.
The Hiper isn't fit be mentioned in the same breath as Corsair. Its just a bling PSU that is good enough for low-mid range systems and nothing more!
Hiper = Budget bling PSUs.
Corsair = Best in range
For a £12 difference you would be OUT OF YOUR MIND to get the Hiper.
They have weak 12V rails and their efficiency is one of the lowest available.
If you want to risk your new rig go Hiper.
If you want a good, stable system with plenty of headroom then don't.
There are a few PSUs at around £50-60 and nearly all of them are better than the Hiper.
- Corsair 520W
- XCLIO 550W Greatpower
- Enermax Liberty 500W
- Antec NeoHE
- Fortron Blue Storm
- 500W Asaka PaxPower

Well to late for that now as i just bought a Corsair 520w for £64.99 from Play.com
yay 1 step to my new rig
now.. just need to get the rest before the warranty runs out lol!
bah i havnt actually saved anything, just added £1 Oh well im sure the SATA drive will be worth it. I know i could save on the Antec 900, but its looks soooooooo good and is one of the best at what it i supposed to do! o well i guess if you want a nice rig you cant show it in a cheap case thatl fall apart
The Rev 3.3 of the Gigabyte DS3 is a total new design with more (4) fan headers and the board I received from scan can in no way be described as cheep and flimsy they may have been in previous Revisions I have no knowledge of them but this board at Rev 3.3, is as well made as any I have used in the last 20 years. I would buy this again if I was looking for another build. The Asus boards are probably just as good so It would be hard to choose don't dismiss the Gigabyte.
No, i think i will stick with it. To me it looks like a great board and has some good reviews with great overclocking capabilities.
I think that there isnt alot else to change and this i what ill probably go for.
Itl probaly be a week or two until i get the rig and ill probably be on the E4300 Oc thread to see how i get on. thanks guys
For Mobo Consider the Foxconn P9657AA-8EKRS2H i965, S775, PCI-E (x16), DDR2 667/800, SATA II, SATA RAID, ATX,
review is quite good. Cost £73.19 at scan.

Im pretty sure thats a bad overclocker, only gets 365mhz = 2.6ghz overclock max (whatever that means im unsure but thats what Pc Format claims)
good board though

Nope, don't do it. Ever.
I have a Foxconn 975XAB and it's the worst move ever. The thing is totally awefull. It advertises falsly and has the owrst support and insturctions you could ever conceive. I'm buying a new motherboard as mine has given me so much greif...
Get a P5B.
I have a HiperPower PSU and it doesn't seem bad to be honest, but then i'm no PSU expert.
If the Corsair is only £12 more, get that instead, it's more reliable by definition and won't set you back hugely.
I have a HannsG 19" monitor, and it pretty damn good to be honest. I can't really see any ghosting on it, occasionally a tiny bit in black areas, and its colours are pretty crisp considering its price. I'm not sure you'd find it much cheaperm but i know it's £118 on amazon. I got mine for £120 at a computer fair.
I have that RAM, its great stuff and OCZ are brill. Maybe try getting just 1gb if you can(single stick of course)? That leaves you room to upgrade at a different time, but i don't know if they do 1gb sticks.
Edit:
Get the Antec 900, it's awesome, and although there is some better cases on the market in terms of tidiness and inner space, its got great cooling and more than enough room, the build quality is great, and it can be customised for your own hardware quite well. It's also got great modding potential (why don't more people mod this cae?!)
