    I cannot get 2-3-2-6 timings

    FYI

    set FSB 250
timings set to auto to SPD
    CPUZ showed 3.25 Ghz 250FSB RAM Freq 166 2.5-3-2-6

    set FSB 250
    set RAM Freq 266
    timings set to2-3-3-6
    CPUZ showed 3.25 Ghz 250FSB RAM Freq 166 2-3-3-6

    set FSB 250
    set RAM Freq 320
    timings set to 2-3-3-6
    CPUZ showed 3.25 Ghz 250FSB RAM Freq 200 2-3-3-6

    set FSB 250
    set RAM Freq 400
    timings set to 2-3-3-6
    no boot

I tried setting the voltage to 2.75 with everything auto, and got a checksum error. I didn't mess with it again.

    set FSB 250
    set RAM Freq 320
    timings set to 2-3-3-6
    CPUZ showed 3.25 Ghz 250FSB RAM Freq 200 2-3-3-6

that's the sort of thing your after, that's running the memory at it's rated Mhz, keep those settings but try reducing the memory timings down to 2-3-2-6, if that works reduce them further to 2-2-2-6 and then 2-2-2-5.

You seem to be setting the ram frequency at the ddr speed, not the actual speed.
ie. 200mhz ram frequency = 400mhz ddr speed
Try running it at 200mhz ram frequency at spd settings. That would explain the no-booting.

    Fondie,

Thanks. I'll try that at home later.

    Luke,

The only DRAM Frequency choices I have in BIOS are AUTO, 266, 320, and 400.

Here's the bios screens I'm seeing:
    http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=NDcwLDI=
    (thanks again Fondie)

Of course, the DDR frequency options shown there aren't the same as what I have with my setup at home, but it might help.

    I can try:
    set FSB 250
    set RAM Freq 400
timings set to auto to SPD

    ...and see what happens though.

that would be something to try, but for the moment, i'd suggest you bring your FSB back down to 200, set your DRAM to 200 also, then manually set the memory timings to 2-3-2-6, everything *should* therefore be running within their specifications, if that doesn't work then maybe you've got duff memory sticks.

    Fondie,

I think I already tried that, since setting everything to auto seems to use those frequencies you mentioned.

With everything auto/default except for 2-3-2-6 timings, the system does not boot.

Sounds like its faulty ram. You tried each of the sticks on their own? May just be a faulty single stick.

I finally got 2-3-2-6 using SPD.
    It was something simple.
Performance Mode was set to AUTO, but had a STANDARD option as well.
Once I switched it to STANDARD, with all other settings that could be set to STANDARD set to STANDARD, everything else AUTO, and timings set to SPD, CPUZ showed my timings were at 2-3-2-6.
    Yay!!

Full of hope at getting tighter timings, I tried the series of setups I've done the past few days.

Strangely, setting my timings to 2-3-2-6 manually will cause my machine to not boot up.
No boot with manual 2-3-2-6, all standard/auto settings.
No boot with manual 2-3-2-6, all standard/auto settings, except RAM voltage settings (tried all, 2.55-2.85).
Works with manual 2-3-3-6, all standard/auto settings.
Works with manual 2-3-3-6, all standard/auto settings, except RAM voltage settings (tried all, 2.55-2.85).

I can still OC to 3.25Ghz 250Mhz FSB with manually set 2-3-3-6 timings running at 200Mhz RAM Frequency.

I've read people saying that 2-2-2-5 timings are achievable with this 3200LL RAM, and I can't even get manually set 2-3-2-6 timings to work.
Why the heck will 2-3-2-6 work when timings are set to SPD?

I have not had time to try memtest yet.

Could I be doing something else wrong?

There are some settings I have not messed with. Among them are DRAM Idle Timer and DRAM Refresh Mode.

Again, thanks for your help guys.

    Well,

It seems I can only get my timings down to 2-3-2-5-8.
Regardless of RAM voltage, 2-2-2-5-8or4 will not boot.

I can get an OC of 3.384 FSB 260 with the 2-3-2-5-8 timings that gives me a RAM Freq of 208.
At boot it says 3.4Ghz, but CPUZ says it's 3.384.
I am not sure of it's stability though.

Memtest at 2-3-2-6-4 showed no errors.
    I haven't tested 2-3-2-5-8 yet.

    So... How am I doing?
Anything else I should try to get 2-2-2-5-8?

Just curious, but have you benched at each setting. B/c with my Abit IC7 I've found the memory timings only made a minor difference in real world benchmarks. Push for the highest clock and go for something easily stable like 2-3-3-6

    I'm RMAing the 3200LL and ordering 4000.

In a sense, it's pretty much what you suggest anyway chris.

    Thank you.
