Think about it for £340 you can get a decent c2d setup as said above, that'll be plenty powerful enough for now.
That way you'll also be ready to drop a quad core straight into your mobo, you'll already have ddr2 etc etc. If you buy the FX60, you'll still need a whole new system when you go quad c2d and you'll have spent the same.
I have an Opteron S939 at 2.5 ghz with 2 gig of ram.
I borrowed a 4800+ (dual core) and it was much better for gaming.
I know the dual cores weren't officially utilized for any of the games I played (FEAR, IL-2 1946) but it was much better.
Why? Because Windows was running on one core I guess. The game booted to the other core.
I noticed it and noticed it when I went back to a single core? Why did I return to a single? (didnt want to mind you)
Its becauase lots of games based on the Unreal Tournament engine have an issue with dual cores.
Its an error called Negative Delta Time, where the CPU is used to set the speed the game will run at everytime you boot the game, and then the second core kicks in and the game throws a wobbler and drops you out.
Google it: Negative Delta Time Dual COre.
Some people sussed it with patches for the CPU. others didn't and I wasnt prepared to risk it with Lineage2, as it died on me far to many times with the dual core in.
HAven't tried since, and that was late last year.

i had those negative delta time problems. with thief deadly shadows and lineage 2. unreal tournament was fine tho. and the dual core optimizer and drivers fix that anyway. even if it still persists. you can download a tool called imgcfg to set the affinity of the .exe to whichever core you like. Ill upload the drivers pack for you.
