    Starting a power supply?

How do I run a power supply safely without the motherboard? I want to test my WC loop before I assemble everything.

I have heard that shorting pins 14 and 15 will turn it on, but could damage the PSU.

you can short pin 14 with one of the ground pins.
    Thats green to any black.
However, thanks to bsodmike for pointing this out to me before:
PSU's are switch-mode, meaning that they should be loaded when in use. An unloaded PSU can incur damage.
An 11ohm, 5W resistor should handle it apparently.

OK so most PSU's have a PFC stage, which means that damage shouldn't happen if the PSU is unloaded and you turn it on.

I'm going to be running a MCP655 on it, which is over 20W i think.
