    Cool Help with power supply...

    Hi all, i need your expert advice on this power supply ive got as im a bit clueless.

    I got it with the case (please dont roll your eyes) and it has various things written on it along with a table:

    Peak Load: 500W
    Frequency: 50-60Hz
    AC Input: 240V 5A

    Now the following is written in a table with various Volts on the top and corresponding Amps along the bottom

    DC Output:
    +5v | + 3.3V | +12V | -5V | -12V | +5VSB
    38A | 28A | 17A |0.5A| 0.8A | 2A

    What i would like to know is...what the hell does it all mean??? Isit any good??? And is this thing gonna blow my CPU and take everything with it???

    any info would be grrrreat, thanks is advance people

    The number of amps on the 12V rail is what you need to look at. 17A is dire for a 500W psu, id recommend upgrading as soon as possible.

    Is it going to blow damaging your components? Possibly, far greater chance over a recognised brand psu.

    speedy reply mate, thanks for the advice

    wow thats cheap. Is 430W enough? considering that i want to overclock the e6300 and im also planning on upgrading my memory to 4gb. Also probably going to upgrade my graphics card aswell when decent DX10 games come out.

    how many amperes is normal on a 12V rail?

    That PSU has 29A on the 12V rail, should be plenty for your current system. If you were considering getting a DX10 graphics card you may want a slightly more powerful one.

    That one is a bit in excess, but its smaller bro the 520W one would be excellent. Has 40A on 12V rails. Lots of pepole would recommend this one.
