All the mentioned HSFs will cool considerably better than stock. Just read the reviews.

@thommo41 - take a look at my thread of stock vs acf7. Might give you some thoughts.

Kungpo - your thread convinced me to run with the "often reviewed as very quiet" Scythe Mine.

Will let you all know... So, my CPU needs to be cleaned thouroughly before installing the new HSF? I dont have any chemicals handy, what shall I use? Will "computer solvent spray" on a cloth do it?

Anything with isopropyl alcohol in it. I suspect that "computer solvent spray" is more likely that foamy stuff you use for cleaning cases, keyboards, etc.

Isopropyl alcohol is easy to get - try your local chemists.

oh, btw, just to let you know, my XP90C is holding up, i think very very well.

i idle at 30C, and peak at around 51C - this is with a panaflo 92 medium-speed fan running near full pelt, so its a little loud, but considering the ambient in my room is a lot higher than normal (being a loft and it being thankfully warm outside).

I am running at 410x8, 1.3125V, and nothing else touched. my ram is running at ddr 984 and i have the settings in the bios as (55512) although CPU-z reads something weird (15-6-6-33)
