For reason's of Parenthood....I recently had to purchase a thermometer.
It's for my kid, in case he get's sick.
There are lots of thermometers....but a few use an Infrared beam, and Tommee Tipee makes one, for sale in Tesco's for £24.99
http://direct.tesco.com/q/N.1999979$...419/Nr.99.aspx
We got one.
I have just read the manual....not very "bloke" I know...but I wanted to see if it would tell me the temp of my glass of vino! and I didn't wanna break it.
Head mode...for reading people's head temperatures....
blah....blah...

Scan mode....hold up.....-20'C to +80'C.....real time scan mode....
Activate.....scan forearm...31.8'c
Glass of white vino.....out of fridge for 10 minutes....15.5'C
hmm.....
Ice pack from freezer.... -16'C
/gets excited at potential....
run's to PC and rips off side of case....points at Heatsink....
42'C (read Asus Probe...CPU core at 51'c....that's feasible)
Back of X1900 Radeon (been Folding all day) 62'C...
boiling water....Error....oh..forgot....80'C maximum,
Guys...this thing reads temps from about 6 inches away.
And it seems to work!
If it's something you're interested in, why not buy one? Not babies, ambient temperatures/heatsink temps/ case temps.
Just tried my chipset temps, those with no heatsinks, and no fans....62'C
It may just be what someone's after!
