    Quiet CPU Cooler Suggestions...

alreeet, anyone recommend/know of a quiet cpu cooler for a c2d 6300? (in an antec 900 case)

im using a AC7 (idles at 38 - 40 degrees) at the mo and tbh its the loudest thing in my case and makes a quite a bit of noise. I want something that does the cooling job very well but also whisper quiet (maybe not whisper quiet but just something thats barely audible). I was looking in this forum and found that this cooler is supposed to be rather quiet and also cools well, also been recommended by another dude, tell me what you guys think:
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=505974

ohh yeah another thing, im not too sure on how many decibels the AC7 operates at coz theyve measured the sound in sone and im not sure what the equivalent is?

fan less? how does that work then??? (obviously without a fan) clearly that would be really quiet but what are the temps like? considering i like to overclock

what do you guys think of that noctua cooler? (with link up top)

In the Antec 900, the case fans are basically the CPU fans.

If you don't want fanless I suggest Zalman CNPS9700, idles around 32-33C and 35-36C on load at 3.2GHz. Lowest fan setting too, totally inaudible.

I have never heard of lapping... explain it and I might know what it is.

    Here is the link: http://www.zalman.co.kr/eng/product/..._name=cnps9700

If you're not overclocking, the ZEROtherm CF800/900 get v. good reports and there's a review link on the right of the page.

no worries im gonna get my annoying cousin to do it (dont like him much)

but seriously that zalman is the one i should go for? im about to click add to basket on scan...

about lapping, its basically where you sand down (not too much) your HS and CPU (if you want) which evens out the irregular surfaces and therefore increases the thermal conductivity between the two resulting in lower temps. Ive never done it before in my life but after reading about it im curious...

Should have had a look at the Hexus HSF review.

    And generally lapping isn't worth it, you're talking 2 - 3ºC.

I already looked there but i like the look of the zalman and tbh its only 1 or 2 degrees here and there of the top coolers in every criteria, not alot in it.

Ive owned a few zalmans before as well and i really do like them.

so you guys wouldnt recommend lapping? Is it easy for something to go wrong? Like sand tooo much on your cpu..lol
