    C2d temperatures

I have got a E6700 cooled by the intel HSF at the moment and I was wondering is it normal to get temps of 40C at idle (27C core 1, 28C core 2)? When I run the torture test on prime95 it shot right up to around 53C. I got these temperatures using speedfan and my motherboard is the P5b deluxe, I also checked the temperatures in the bios and they showed similar readings. I have a antec p182 case and I am running the rear and top fan on medium and the bottom fan on low.

It seems a bit high for a core 2 duo, I thought they ran quite cool?

Seem good temps to me for a stock cooler. Certainly nothing to worry about Stick a decent aftermarket cooler on it and the temps will drop a fair bit.

Switch the top fan on the p182 to intake (set as exhaust normally) and leave the rear fan as exhaust. It normally lowers temps by a little and is definately worth a try as it takes seconds to just flip the fan around.

Post back here on how much it lowered your cpu temp
