    Question PCI Serial Cards

Can anyone help me locate a single port (can be 2 if it comes with it) PCI Serial Port card

Most new pc's dont have the port anymore, but we still have people who use external modems for faxing

I need to find a standard and low profile version of the card

just need the card and driver cd, scan sell them, but £30 seems a lot for one standard card..

    Thanks

Parallel's start from just £19.99 ex vat - so it almost is applicable for free carriage (just need something inexpensive on top )

I found a USB to Parallel convertor on Ebuyer for £6. Obviously not any good for you if you need serial, but it indicates that you may find a usb convertor more cheaply than a card.

Hi David, This seems to fit the bill as reading the description it comes with both brackets

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...roductID=54851

Can you confirm it has both standard and low profile bracket and also the dimension of card?

    Thanks

    Andy

Due to issues with the USB to serial connectors I have already experienced with another client, this is one area I was trying to avoid, mainly due to the software not seeing the serial connection

I know this is the case connecting to a fire alarm panel and this other client is wanting it for a security panel.

Might buy one to try out if their willing..

    Thanks

I'll ask one of the sales team to check for you.

This is due to the way the application is coded, not the device weirdly.
Older software tends to be coded to directly talk to the hardware (windows 9x era). This was common place.
XP and the NT base uses a different HAL, which is what causes it.
