Recommend me a quiet PSU (for ~400W loading)

My current PSU is a Hiper Type-R 580 Watt, but since I built my new system that is drawing about 100W more power than my previous one, it squeals and buzzes like crazy, and is louder than all the fans in my system.

Soooo.... any recommendations for a ~500+ Watt PSU that'll still be relatively quiet when fairly well loaded? I was thinking a Corsair HX520...

    Recommendations welcome!

It sounds like the pig that was trapped in Bazzlad's monitor has escaped and taken refuge in your Hiper.

As for the new PSU, yes the corsair 520w is a good choice if you want modular

Think I'll go for that then. Certainly haven't found a better option yet at around the £60 mark...

There are plenty of good PSUs to choose from that arent modular, and they will be cheaper as well.

Re: Recommend me a quiet PSU (for ~400W loading)

I recommend antec neo atm for bang per buck. Has a smaller fan but somehow seems quieter than other psus i listened to when buying - at least within the same price bracket. That said, the corsairHX always get good reviews though, perhaps its just that the one my mate had was a little noisy... That said, I'm not so sure buying modular was the best plan. I've ended up with just as many cables flying all over the place and using all my modular sockets. Might save a few £ going for a coolermaster iGreen.

Corsiar VX450, you can get em @ scan, they have a peak efficiency rating of 85%. Specifications of the system would help to make a proper judgement of power consumption.

Yeah, I heard good things about that PSU on http://www.silentpcreview.com/

I reckon 450 Watts would power my system comfortably, but not leave much headroom if I get another graphics card or some such. I've got:

    Mobo: IP35 Pro
    CPU: Q6600 G0
    GFX: 8800 GTS 640 MB (factory OC'd)
    2 GB RAM
Single HD + couple of opticals + four 12"fans.

The VX450 would certainly be more than enough for that rig, you could even slap more disks and RAM in and still be sitting pretty.
