I think the main prob with SLI is not in setting the hardware up, but the support for SLI is patchy, if the games you like to play are supported, great, but if not, some games run slower in an SLI rig, than with a single card.
    Which games run slower?
I ask because I have yet to find the game that runs slower, so if you can tell me I want to try it/them and see for my self.

    Re: SLi a gogo?

Just wanted to say thanks for everyones input and help.

As above im sticking with the card but just upgrading Mobo, CPU and RAM with the following Spec.

    Abit Fatal1ty AN9 32X NF590 SLI, S AM2, PCI-E (x16), DDR2 533/667/800, SATA II, SATA RAID, ATX

AMD AM2 Athlon 64 6400+ Black Edition Dual Core 3.2GHz, 2x 1MB Cache, Retail w/o Heat Sink Fan

    2GB (2x1GB) CorsairTwinX XMS2 Pro, DDR2 PC2-6400 (800), 240 Pins, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 5-5-5-12 (2 start with later going to 4 gig)

As for CPU cooler am not 100% sure am still looking atm, reason for this is because i have a big CPU cooler atm and it slightly hangs over 1 of RAM slots with about 1mm to spare LOL and i dont fancy squeezing RAM into that space lol.

    Has anyone got any suggestions?

Have you tried overclocking your current 4200+? Mine hits 3Ghz making your purchse above a waste.

The spec you listed above its worth the time or the money in my mind. You'll see little difference. If you really want a new cpu, mobo etc, then dont consider anything other than c2d. Anyhting else wouldnt be worth it.

Your current setup is fine and suits your vga card well.

    Re: SLi a gogo?

my system is good yeah but the RAM lets it down, its only DDR i assumed adding DDR2 and the faster CPU would make more of a difference and as for overclocking thats not really something am into..i prefer to run at stock for everything..

    thanks for info

Sorry MM, don't have specific titles, just going on what the mag reviews reveal when they do an sli test.

It maybe that things have dramatically improved in the past few months, however, the common point between all the reviews I have read, has been to only bother going sli if you know that the titles you like to play are sli compatable.

The last few mobos I have had have been sli, that's money I've wasted, I won't be doing it again (unless the sli only boards offer serious incentives in other areas). Just my 2p worth.

    Regards.
