    Bluetooth mouse - without dongle

I'm looking at buying a bluetooth mouse for use with my laptop.

My laptop has an inbuilt bluetooth device. I want opinions on a bluetooth mouse that can connect to the laptop without the need for an external dongle.

The mice I see all come with a dongle and imply that they will only connect to the dongle, not generic bluetooth devices, which seems in my eyes to defeat the object of bluetooth.

they come with a dongle, but they won't require you to use that exact dongle - it's simply for the plethora of people who buy products without checking they have all the requirements on the back

I think its just bad wording on the descriptions of bluetooth mice, in that as you say don't need the dongle but simply imply that the dongle is needed.

I'll just purchase the one I want with a little more confidence its not got some propritary hack on it.

is this for your macbook ikonia?
in that case what about a Mighty Mouse?
I'm waiting for the VX Nano from logitech. It's a standard 2.4GHz one, but with an incredibly small receiver.

Re: Bluetooth mouse - without dongle

thanks for the nudge, nah, its not for the macbook, for my new x86 laptop that replaces the stolen laptop.

I've never really used external mice on laptops but the ammount of time I am finding myself on the laptop at the moment and the positioning of the mouse pad suggests I may benifit from a mouse. I've just picked one of scan that looks like it will suit my needs no problem.

Re: Bluetooth mouse - without dongle

at any rate, if there *were* any dodginess, it wouldn't be at a hardware level - conceivably, they might use a non-standard bluetooth profile for their device, the way Nokia used to for all their phones (the HID profile should make bluetooth input devices plug 'n' play on all OSen)
