Stock CPU fan for AMD CPU

I am planning to buy a Athlon x2 6000+ CPU but was wondering if the stock fan is relatively quiet? Don't want to spend money on an extra CPU cooler if the stock is fine.

    thanks guys!

Relatively. You can hear it if it spins up full, but they run quite cool.

    Hi

    There a a few here: http://www.quietpc.com/gb-en-gbp/products/amdcooling

I've not tried one on a current Athlon but I had a fanless Thermalright on an old XP-M2500+ Abit NF-7 system (mild overclock) I had and it worked fine and kept the processor cool even on full load. Other than the PSU the only fan in the case was a 80mm glued onto a block of rubber and running on 7V, this was directed upward from bottom of the case across the motherboard toward the cooler. The biggest problem is checking that the cooler will fit on your motherboard (capacitors etc. around the CPU socket) and in your case (PSU position etc). You could try posting your setup in their forum, someone with a similar motherboard might be able to help.

I've had a few things from QuietPC and they have been fine to deal with.

    HTH - Andy
