Hehe, I've just installed a Chaintech 7KJD in my server and have quite a bit of experience with Chaintech boards in general.
As for making out the numbers, its called looking at the pics 1 inch from your monitor screen

All the Chaintech 7AJAs I've found on Google seem to have Twin BIOS'

They might be US release versions or something, remember there's many revisions etc of that particular board.
Gigabyte do a similar thing, afaik with or without it doesn't affect the running of the machine (just a hardware backup gimmick/toy).
Oh right. Well I'll probably flash the BIOS one day when my server isn't busy.
The only real problem I have with the board is that the primary IDE channel doesn't seem to work, so I have to have my two HDDs connected to the secondary channel

A bit late, but another way to identify hardware is through the FCC ID, if the device in question has one. If a google for the ID doesn't turn anything up, you can search for it on the FCC's site (http://www.fcc.gov/oet/fccid/). That way, you can at least determine the manufacturer, if not the exact product.
I'll second the vote for Chaintech, especially a few years back when they released a MB with an AMD761 NB and a Via 8231 SB when everyone else was using AMD761 NB + Via 686B SB's (which had quite a few probs).
Touch wood, I've used god knows how many different models and never had to send one back.
Cool.
My server mobo pwns then
Any ideas with regards the IDE channel problem? And where I can get a manual from a server that allows download speeds higher than 864 bytes per second?

Sounds strange, all set to auto in bios and everything, have you tried swapping cables etc?
Possibly a hardware fault. See how you get on.
Lmao! Same symptoms? Doesn't pick up any drives..?
Well if you find out a way to fix it, be sure to let me know!!
