Help with disapearing CD/DVD

Today i deceided to install another fan to increase a bit more airflow in the case. So i turned off the PC and unplugged the IDE cable from the back of the CD/DVD drive and removed it.I then moved the drive down 3 bays to accomadate the fan. I then re-connected the IDE cable and power cable then turned the PC on.
And now my CD/DVD dosn't show up on my computer??? I have tried the cables to see if they are loose but no...............
I have also looked in the BIOS and it's not showing up there either????? (not sure if it should)
So has anyone got any ideas to as why........

Check if the IDE pins are damaged on either the motherboard or the CD drive.

I have checked the mobo and drive and all the pins seem to be there, have also used a new IDE cable but still have the same result.

Silly question time, did you reattach the power cable? Also, is there a chance you put the new fan on the same power cable as the optical drive?

At a guess it sounds like the unit isn't powered...

If there not showing in the bios it would seem as thought the drive arent connected correctly

Can you open the tray when you power on the PC?
If not, then the drive has no power, which can be caused by the new fan.
Try to remove the fan for a sec., and only attach the DVD to the power plug.

The power is connected to the Drive and the tray opens and closes fine.
I have disconnected the fan from the pc.
Another weird thing that i have just noticed is that it is showing a Floppy drive (A) being connected....................but i dont have one

Ok, it's possible you've plugged your optical drive into the FDD header on your motherboard. Unplug the lead and if possible, check your motherboard manual to see which header is which.

All cables are in their correct places........................just can't understand that i lost the drive by just moving it down a few bays.

I don't think it has anything to do with moving the drive inside the case.

How many IDE ports has your board?

Have you tried swopping connections to IDE 1 and IDE 2, this would elminate a "shorted" IDE socket........................also swop the cables i.e. hard drive and DVD to see if the cable is ok.

Without seeing your unit, I can't rule out for definate cable problems. However to persue alternatives, perhaps when you moved the unit you knocked a jumper out of place from the back? Check the small collection of 10 pins that often sits between the power and the IDE connection on the drive. Is there a small connector between some of those pins? If so what is it connecting (numbering the pins 1 through 10 going 1 is upper left, 2 is bottom left and so on)

Wohooooooo got it sorted
For some reason the raid in the bios had to be re-enabled I disabled it as i dont use raid. At least i got to check everything while i was in there Thanks guys for the help
